Moving Forward Fundraiser

In the wake of natural disasters and tragedy it’s remarkable how people pull together and support one another.

Samantha, from Ms Beattie, is holding a fundraiser for her friend’s family who were so profoundly affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Click the picture above to view Samantha’s post. There are 33 fantastic products (worth around $200) that you can receive for a $20 donation.

And a quick reminder that there’s just under 2 days to enter my Fabulous Followers Giveaway!

I hope everyone’s having a wonderful week. I’m hoping to have lots of photos to share with you all this weekend from our Halloween Week and our Bat Week in the classroom. Plus I have a few new products that will be up in my TpT store this weekend, too!

Mad Monday Maths & 2 Freebies

… or at least that’s what I’d call it if I’d had my class today (and not a Curriculum Day).

I humbly bring you a new product and a freebie to match.

Purchase on TeachersPayTeachers or TeachersNotebook

For those of you who are not familiar with the BUMP games – they’re simply an addition game using 2 dice to find a total. Students cover up the total on the board with a counter. If their partner also rolls that number they can BUMP the person off!

Great addition practise for young students.

This pack features 7 themed BUMP boards – veggie garden, garden insects, rainbows, Autumn leaves, pumpkin patches, Easter and owls. (All, save for the owls, have a blackline version included.)

The first 2 people to leave a comment with their favourite Maths game will get a free copy of this pack! (Don’t forget to leave your email address!)

Tomorrow is the Melbourne Cup (hooray for public holidays for horse races!), and to celebrate with my students we’ll be designing names for race horses, designing jockey jumpers, and writing about the long weekend (my kiddos will have had 4 days off!) on Cup-inspired paper. Click here (or on the pic above) to download this freebie!

Inspired by this Pin

On Saturday my colleague and I spent a few hours making 8 batches of orange playdough to give our students as a cute Halloween treat this Wednesday. (I’m not a huge fan of giving out lollies and sugar to kids – especially when some of them will get lots of it ANYWAY!) But these Pumpkin Playdough treats turned out beautifully and can be stored and reused!

Inspired by Melanie from Frog Spot!

So, I totally stole this idea from Mel – because it was too darn cute, and Australian to boot! Plus, she had an adorable freebie writing template to use.

My kids had great fun designing their own Wombat Stew recipes (most choosing a combination of story ingredients and spooky additions!).

Thanks for the great idea, Mel!

A-Z Silly Sentence Sorts Pack & End of Year Freebie

Available on TeachersPayTeachers and Teachers Notebook (coming soon)

Silly Sentence sorts is a collection of 26 alliterative sentences that have been mixed up. When read out loud they sound very ‘silly’ and young students get a great kick out of recognising that it doesn’t make sense!

These would make a great addition to literacy center rotations – younger students can use the complete sentence strip as a reference when rebuilding the mixed-up words, while more capable students can piece it back together using their knowledge of sentence structure.

These look great on coloured card stock, or simply pasted into Literacy workbooks.

I hope that you find a place for them in your resources!

A-Z Silly Sentence Sorts (TN)

Good grief – the end of year (here in the Southern Hemisphere, at least) is fast approaching. Soon we’ll be reflecting on our year-long learning journey.

It is available with Australian spelling and American!

Crazy & Rockin’ Teachers Giveaway

It’s such a crazy week this week! We have the official opening of our Building the Education Revolution (B.E.R.) building on Thursday and we’ve been madly preparing our school and classrooms for the event. We’ve got lots of people coming to have a look as well, which is great!

(Will definitely put on my IWB to showcase the work that my Little Smarties have been doing!)

I also had a great refresher PD on Running Records for informing teaching reading. It was really fascinating to sit down with the P-2 team and go through it and clarify our understandings and collaboratively assess an example RR. I took so much away from it – I’ll have to share some thoughts here at a later date!

But I have some more giveaway news to share – it’s such great fun being involved in these things, so I hope that you’ll indulge me a little longer!

The lovely Hilary from Rockin’ Teacher Materials is hosting a great giveaway with over $170 worth of products up for grab, including my Label the Superheroes (Pack 1):

Click on Hilary’s banner or the link above to join in the giveaway fun!

I’m approaching 3,000 visitors to this blog… I’m considering running a giveaway. If people are interested I’ll put up a post later this week to invite contributors!

I hope your week is going well!

Giveaways & Link-up!

Mrs Poultney's ponderings

The lovely Tania, from Mrs Poultney’s Ponderings, has reached 101 (and beyond) followers and is hosting a giveaway on her blog. Click the banner or link above to go to her blog to see the awesome prizes up for grabs!

I’m offering any item from my TpT store, along with lots of other fantastic teachers. So don’t be shy – go and enter!

I also had to add a link (and participation entry) to The 3AM Teacher‘s fantastic link-up – and it’s all about reflecting on your first year of blogging.

My favourite memory from my first year of blogging (and really, I still consider this to be my ‘first year’ even though it’s probably more like 15 months!) is not one specific event, but more a cumulative event.

I’m constantly astounded and amazed by the talent and dedication of the teachers who blog and share resources online. When I first started blogging, I thought that I would only be blogging about technology-based tools and ideas to assist my students in the classroom – and the teachers that I met online had very similar goals. Then I also met and started following teachers who shared classroom activities and ideas beyond technology – who introduced my to Pinterest and TpT and the wonderful world of creating resources.

My greatest memory is knowing that there are so many wonderful teachers who are willing to share their knowledge, expertise and love of teaching with the world, and inspire people to make a difference.

That is a memory I will keep forever.

What is your favourite memory from your first year as a blogger?

Label the Trick-or-Treaters Pack & Friday Freebie

I’m having so much fun with labelling kits – they’re a great way to reinforce adjectives – and I had to make a set for Halloween using Nikki’s beautiful Halloween Kidlettes clipart. It was an exclusive bundle she released last weekend and it’s just adorable!

The pack contains 6 colour AND black & white labelling mats for trick-or-treaters in fantastic animal costumes.

The black & white mats can be printed and copied (either individually or onto coloured card stock and laminated for re-use. The colour ones could be laminated and used multiple times with whiteboard markers.

Super-cute and super-fun! Just in time for the Halloween holiday season.

You purchase it on TpT and Teachers Notebook.
