Five for F- Saturday!

It’s been positively AGES since I linked up with Kacey from Doodlebugs Teaching, and while today’s post may not be quite as thrilling as I’d like (I’ve been trying to keep up with the demands of my new class!), it’s here. Finally!

We made my Love Is Like travelling class book this week. Each student finished the sentence love is like with their own description and then we put it together into a bound book which has been going home with families this week. Each family has been encouraged to write an additional sentence at the front of the book and the response has been great! You can download a copy of this class book for free (but don’t forget – love is like reading lovely feedback!)

This was doing the rounds on Facebook, and I’m such an Avengers fan it made me laugh! (I don’t have an original link for it, so it you happen to know, please share it with me so I can give credit!)

We were looking at patterns this week with the kiddos and my Prep/1s made pasta pattern necklaces. Student quote of the week had to be one of my grade 1 girls correcting me: “It’s not pasta, Miss Galvin. It’s penne!

I’m also a huge Batman fan. Since the start of December I have read well over 200+ issues of Batman comics, including Nightwing, Birds of Prey, Batmand & Robin and stuff from the New 52. Nothing is cuter, or more train-wreckie, than the relationship between Dick Grayson (Robin/Nightwing) and Barbara Gordon (Batgirl/Oracle). They’re super adorable though and I totally found these little vinyl characters who may, or may not, be making the trip to my work desk soon. (I have some BIG Batman fans in my class this year – boys and girls, which is fun!)

Which brings me to my BIGGEST news this week, which I have not yet had a chance to blog about…

My blog has had a facelift, of sorts! My very lovely friend Mel (From the Pond) kindly designed a Scrappy Kid just for me so that I could make a new header, blog and signature button for my little corner of the online world! Isn’t she the sweetest?

And yes, I have been known to wear Minnie Mouse ears around my classroom!

I’d love to know what you think!
