Five for Friday

It’s the end of the week! I’ve seen Iron Man 3 once, and am planning my second cinema visit (I’m thinking Gold Class!).

Also, I get to see my bestie and her baby tomorrow. 🙂

Right now though, I’m linking up with Doodlebugs Teaching for this week’s:

Here is the fabulous Smart Art activity from Katie Knight’s Easy Ecology pack.

The fabulous Red Rectangle Rocket craft activity by Mel at From the Pond.

My Comma Pie activity from my Such Sweet Language pack. My firsties did a great job on these this week!

We made our own persuasive Pigeon stories. (I’ll take some close-ups of the insides of the books next week – some are HILARIOUS!)

Guess who got a Scholastic delivery today…?!

How’s your week been?

  1. I love the look of your persuasive pigeon activity – looking forward to seeing some close-ups! I’m glad I’m not the only scholastic addict – I managed to convince myself that I didn’t need anything this time around but I do wish I had of purchased that Mother’s Day picture book now…

    Enjoy your weekend!

    • The Pigeon activity was super-easy. My class LOVE all Mo Willems Pigeon books so we’ve been reading them all you (and re-reading, and re-reading – lol!). I decided to do Persuasive Writing with my Grade 1s so that eventually I’m in-sync with my Prep and Grade 1 writing planners (this is the problem with working across 2 planning teams, sigh!) and these books are perfect. My kiddos had to choose something the Pigeon wanted to do, and write 3 reasons why he should be allowed to do it (ie: drive a car, rule the world, be the principal, do a drawing, etc). I was so proud of them.

Oh, I’m a massive Scholastic addict, Casey. But, considering the prices and that I save up specifically for it, I’m telling myself it’s worth it! I have a small collection of Mother’s Day books now, which is useful. One of my Preps introduced me to another great book about Mums – Mummies are Amazing. She read it to my class last term (which was completely precious!) and I had to buy it for our Mother’s Day collection. 🙂
